I've actually bought two of these. First one in 2011 from this listing, which had the plastic backing that the bristles sit in. This fell apart after less than a year as far as I remember. The 2nd one I bought at a local store - exact same UPC code- and it has a completely wooden head. No plastic anywhere. Maybe a recent update.
